Sources and analytical scope

The release contains 6,398 core records; 5,473 meet the manuscript inclusion and metadata criteria. The final year is incomplete.

Figures 1 and 2

Frozen title-and-abstract assignments to 67 overlapping scientific topics. Figure 1 retains 34 topics and 120 links. Figure 2 compares 1986–2015 (n = 3,127) with 2016–2026 (n = 2,346), per 1,000 articles. Bubble area indicates distinct affiliation-country coverage, not influence. Title-only sensitivity estimates are retained in the data.

Figure 3

Explicit title terms identify seven research settings. There are 3,232 resolved titles and 2,241 without a matched title term. Network positions are schematic. Shared labels do not establish causal connections or archive-wide integration prevalence.

Figure 4

Study-country records cover 3,023 articles in 96 countries and regions. The point layer is a complementary, overlapping set of articles. Point placements cover articles and include coordinates, site/region anchors, and subnational centroids. Centroids are not sampling coordinates. Legacy point-color classifications remain subject to QA and differ from Figure 3 title settings.

Search and category controls filter the article list and highlight matching marks. Figures 1–3 retain their frozen geometry and summary labels. Figure 4 country counts follow current record filters. These counts overlap between countries.

Regional and subnational representatives match place descriptions from PDF study-area and sampling text to gazetteer entries or administrative reference points within the recorded country. Province or state consistency and same-name ambiguity were checked. Records without a regional match may still contain useful site descriptions. Recovery versions and source checks remain available in the public audit tables.

Author metadata

Author search uses archived PDF-extracted bibliographic strings. Some lists are incomplete or contain extraction noise; initials and name variants can limit matching. Names have not been disambiguated into individual identities, and search results are not complete author publication lists. Contact details and identifiable affiliation tails are removed from the supplemental author index. The frozen analytical data are unchanged.

Map sources

The archived Ministry of Natural Resources of China reference supplies the China region and Chinese boundary layers. Country-tone geometry outside China uses Natural Earth. The accepted map geometry and analytical records are unchanged.

Selected site labels

Forty selected field-system names are displayed, including ten additional African, South American, Oceanian and Antarctic labels checked against primary-paper study context. Their selection combines location support, scientific relevance and available label space; it is not an impact ranking. Three source-checked geographic corrections are documented in the public QA tables, including one quarantined point. Selected labels are illustrative, not a ranking of research impact.

Access and reproduction

No source PDFs, copied full abstracts, private correspondence, or credentials are distributed. The public ZIP includes source tables, codebooks, QA flags, hashes, and a standard-library Python verification script. AI checks are not independent expert-human annotation.
