Zezhen Pan studies environmental geochemistry, with interests in mineral–water interfacial reactions, the environmental behavior of uranium and other contaminants, and the regulation of contaminant transformations by iron minerals and organic ligands.

Resolving the reduction, adsorption, immobilization and long-term stabilization of radionuclides such as uranium.
Using interfacial characterization and reaction modeling to understand how iron minerals regulate contaminant behavior.
