Editorial service
After six years of editorial leadership, Prof. Zimeng Wang concluded his term as Editor-in-Chief of Applied Geochemistry and continues to support the journal as an Honorary Consulting Editor.

Team milestone
Congratulations to three alumni as they begin new professional chapters: PhD graduate Enyang Liu has joined Yangtze Industrial Investment Group, master’s graduate Jinfeng Li has joined Envision Energy, and master’s graduate Yujie Fu has joined Jiangnan Shipyard. We wish them bright futures and always welcome them back.

Academic service
Prof. Zimeng Wang attended the 11th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology in Beijing, joining fellow participants in discussions on strengthening China’s science and technology capacity and advancing high-level scientific and technological self-reliance.

Research funding
The team received funding from the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment for a 2026–2027 project on molecular recognition, quantitative detection and environmental processes of plastic-derived oligomers in soil.

Public engagement
Prof. Wang joined People’s Daily’s 2026 New Year program to introduce the group’s research and share New Year wishes.

Publication
Enyang Liu and colleagues published “Sulfidation unlocks dual reductive pathways in uranium immobilization by iron sulfide” in Environmental Science & Technology.

Academic service
Prof. Wang joined the scientific committee of the UNESCO International Centre on Global-Scale Geochemistry.

The team’s study on microplastic-driven impairment of soil phosphorus cycling was accepted by ES&T.

Education & innovation
The project “Algae Power Awakening: A Sustainable Aquaculture Model Led by Microalgae,” which Prof. Zimeng Wang helped mentor, received a Bronze Award at the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2025.

Prof. Zezhen Pan won first prize in Fudan University’s 2025 young-faculty teaching competition.

Collaboration
A new seed grant supports collaboration with the State Key Laboratory of Soil and Sustainable Agriculture and Changshu Agro-ecological Experimental Station.
