Studies environmental biogeochemistry, with a focus on mineral–microbe–organic matter controls on soil carbon, redox processes and contaminant fate.

Studies environmental geochemistry, with a focus on mineral–water interfacial reactions, the environmental behavior of uranium and other contaminants, and the regulation of contaminant transformations by iron minerals and organic ligands.
