Zimeng Wang王梓萌

Professor of Environmental Geochemistry · Former Editor-in-Chief and Honorary Consulting Editor, Applied Geochemistry

Zimeng Wang is a professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at Fudan University and an environmental biogeochemist. He studies how interactions among minerals, microorganisms and organic matter regulate carbon persistence and contaminant fate in soils, sediments, groundwater and permafrost. His group combines interfacial chemistry and spectroscopy with microbial ecology, long-term field experiments, evidence synthesis and modeling to connect molecular mechanisms with ecosystem and Earth-system change.

His work has been published in Nature Geoscience, Science Advances, Environmental Science & Technology, Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta and Water Research. He received the ACS James J. Morgan Early Career Award and the IAGC Ebelmen Award. From 2019 to 2026, he served successively as Associate Editor, Co-Editor-in-Chief and Editor-in-Chief of Applied Geochemistry, and now serves as an Honorary Consulting Editor.
